Technical Bulletin: Unable to amend subscription group with cancelled subscription

SaaSGrid permits either Company Administrators or those users who have permission to manage subscriptions to "amend" subscriptions. Subscriptions can be amended individually, or as a group. Due to a limitation in SaaSGrid's subscription management workflow, it is currently not possible to amend a subscription group in certain scenarios where it should be permitted -- specifically when one of the subscriptions in that group is cancelled.

Symptoms

  • At least one of the subscriptions in the subscription group has a status of Cancelled
  • You receive either of the following messages (the message varies depending on the SaaSGrid version) when amending the subscription group:

    • In order to change a subscription's plan the subscription must be active.
    • The group contains at least one inactive subscription. Amendments cannot be made to groups that contain any inactive subscriptions.

Note that messages above will also be displayed and it will not be possible to amend the subscription group if any subscription in the group is Suspended due to an unpaid invoice. This is the expected behavior of SaaSGrid.

Resolution

This issue has been verified and is currently outstanding. This problem will be resolved in a future version of SaaSGrid.

Is there a Manual Workaround?

To work around this issue, it is possible to amend each active subscription individually.

If you have a particularly large number of subscriptions in the group and are severly impacted by this issue, contact Apprenda Client Services (support@apprenda.com) to discuss your specific situation.
