Remote API .NET Tutorial

This tutorial, which can be downloaded as a PDF file via the link below, is intended for Developers of applications who wish to interact with their services directly through the Apprenda Remote API. It is expected that the Developer is proficient with the following Microsoft technologies:

  • Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
  • SQL Server
When coupled with the Apprenda Remote API, these technologies greatly accelerate the development of both your services and your standalone client applications. This tutorial provides a hands-on guide for the following:
  • Creating a basic Apprenda Service.
  • Creating a standalone client application to invoke the service.
  • Running a standalone client application both locally and against a deployed Apprenda Service.
Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours on this tutorial. Before proceeding, make sure that you have Visual Studio and the Apprenda SDK installed, as well as access to an instance of Apprenda or Apprenda Express for deployment. By the end of this tutorial you will have acquired a basic understanding of how to develop a standalone client application that utilizes an Apprenda Service.

You may choose to skip past the boilerplate application code construction and download the sample application HelloApprenda.zip, which can be found on our Downloads page.

Before beginning this tutorial, it is expected that you have a general understanding of the concepts introduced in the Understanding the Apprenda Platform section of our documentation. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the material in both the Basic .NET Developer Tutorial and .NET Guest App API Developer Tutorial before proceeding to the Remote API Tutorial.
